The role of canine cancer screening in early cancer detection with Dr. Tom Butera

November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month, and our Volition Veterinary CEO, Dr. Tom Butera, shares the story of his late dog, Sunny, a Golden Retriever, who sadly died of lymphoma at eight years old. Golden Retrievers, loved for their friendly personalities, are unfortunately susceptible to many cancers, as are other large breed dogs.

As a veterinarian, Tom has seen similar experiences with many pet parents throughout his career, explaining to families that while their dog seems perfectly happy and healthy, they may have to prepare to say goodbye before they’re ready to.
